Distribution Services provides on and off campus shipping for faculties and departments. In order to have something shipped on campus, submit an On-Campus Pickup Request Form.

 Distribution Services will pick up the shipment from you and deliver it accordingly. Or you can drop off your shipment at either Distribution Services locations

To have something shipped off campus, you can either drop off the shipment at Distribution Services located at the Physical Plant or Distribution Services, Foothills Campus. Or you can submit an On-Campus Shipping form.

Receiving

Distribution Services receives 2.5 million items annually for distribution across campus. If you would like to know of the status of an expected package, please check first with the carrier to confirm receipt of delivery location. If the package has been received by the University of Calgary, please contact UService and provide the following Information:

Additional Courier Information

  • For shipments using all other Couriers (FedEx, Purolator, DHL and UPS), please use your Speed Code when possible. You Speed Code is your abbreviated accounting string. For more information see “What are Speed Codes?” on the About Distribution Services link
  • Preprinted waybills for all contracted couriers are available, at no cost, from Distribution Services, Main Campus and Foothills Campus. The account number you want your courier costs to be charged to must appear in the appropriate area on the waybill. Couriers will not pick up shipments without all pertinent information included on the waybill.
  • West Direct does not require waybills. When requesting service, provide your UCalgary information (i.e. department account code etc.). You will receive a Job Number (this replaces the need for a waybill). Indicate the Job Number on your shipment.
  • UCalgary's business importer number is R108102864RM0001.
  • For further information regarding courier services and/or pricing, Please contact UService.
  • Please Note: Agriculture Canada has advised us that any shipments of animal or human origin, including veterinary biologics, animal or human tissues, cells etc. shipped from outside Canada (including shipments from the US), that are considered pathogenic or infectious require an Agriculture Canada and/or Health Canada Import Permit. Failure to comply could result in Agriculture Canada seizing and destroying your shipment.
  • The cost of a one-time permit is approximately $35 CND funds, a multi-use permit is currently $60 CND funds. For information about obtaining and paying Agriculture Canada or Health Canada import permits, contact Rob Lang in the Customs and Traffic Unit at 403.220.7224 at least two weeks in advance.
